Review of Shetland Recreational Trust subscriptions Shetland

April 6th 2021

Shetland More active, more often

The Shetland Recreational Trust is on the lookout for people to help us review our subscriptions in small informal focus groups. We need people from all walks of life and all areas of Shetland – both customers and people who don’t currently use our facilities – as we want to hear from you what you’d like us to offer. On completion of your group session you will be issued a £20 gift token for a local retailer as a thank you for your input and time.

We are reviewing the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Aqua subscriptions offered at all of our facilities with a view to creating new options which are accessible, affordable and inclusive to all. The review is part of a project the Trust is undergoing to help us achieve our vision of ‘Shetland – more active, more often’ and we hope to launch the new subscriptions by September 2021.

The project is recruiting people from all across Shetland to be part of focus groups. These will involve a small number of people taking part in an informal discussion led by independent reviewers. The groups will link with our network of eight facilities across the length and breadth of the Islands to gather participants from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.

SRT Operations Manager Robert Geddes said: “Participation in this project will enable folk to make a direct contribution to our understanding of the current Subscription packages on offer and to shape what the future of physical activity looks like across the Isles in years to come. You don’t have to be an expert in any aspect of the leisure industry to participate and we will not be discussing any personal details. ”

Normally these focus groups would be carried out in person at the local facility. However due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing restrictions the groups will take place online using the Zoom platform.

Mr Geddes said: “We just want to hear your views and to make sure that what we offer our customers is what suits them best. We can’t do that unless we ask people directly so we really hope folk take us up on the opportunity. We are keen to hear from folk both individuals and family groups from all different backgrounds, ages and areas and will be holding groups for both customers and non-users.”

Involvement in the group is voluntary and discussions held during the focus groups will be strictly confidential. The Trust will operate the groups ethically, legally and under the codes of the Data Protection Acts.
