Learn to Swim Classes @ Scalloway
Child Swimming Lessons
Encouraging your child to learn to swim from a young age is one of the most important life skills you can give them and if they enjoy the water from a young age they will do so for the rest of their lives.
In 2017 we adopted the National Framework for Swimming in Scotland which provides a clear set of national standards, as well as a pathway which allows you to follow how your child is progressing and what this actually means in terms of their swimming ability.
Watch the Scottish Swimming video below to learn more about the Framework.
The Framework is designed to teach children through fun, playing games and other activities in the pool that will help them learn core swimming skills such as breathing, submerging and moving in the water. Swimming strokes are introduced gradually once your child has learned the basic core water skills and techniques. Whatever your age, learning to swim should be fun! For some fun games you can do with your child in the pool, some essential water safety tips and a ‘meet the athletes’ section visit
One-to-one Swimming Lessons
These lessons are designed to supplement group swimming lessons and are a great way to build water confidence or develop specific skills and techniques that might not be so easily achieved in a group lesson setting. Please contact the Centre for more information.
