Shetland Recreational Trust appoints two new Trustees

The board of trustees of Shetland Recreational Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Summers and David Thomson as trustees. The term of appointment is four years from February 2015.

Liam is currently employed by Shetland Islands Council as a steward at Islesburgh Complex. Prior to that he worked for Shetland Recreational Trust for a total of 12 years at both Scalloway Pool and Clickimin Leisure Complex. He has a keen interest in a variety of sports and serves as secretary of the Up Helly Aa Committee.

David is a quantity surveyor specialising in energy projects. He is a director of Shetland Aerogenerators and a project manager with Viking Energy Shetland L.L.P. After playing several sports David now coaches and helps run local clubs including Lerwick Spurs FC and Lerwick Amateur Swimming Club.

Welcoming the appointments, the Chairman of Shetland Recreational Trust, Bryan Leask, said: “I am delighted that Liam and David are joining the SRT board and I am sure that the Trust will benefit greatly from the different skills they have to offer.”
